WHAT IS ROM (Range of Motions)


WHAT IS ROM ON, THEN what are the benefits?



ROM (Range of Motions) active is an exercise carried out by the Client, by moving every joint in full if possible without causing pain.

Benefits active ROM exercises
1.       Increasing the mobility of the body
2.       Prevent joint contractures and decrease in muscle
3.       Blood circulation

Active ROM means
1.       Neck (Pivot Joint)
a.       Flex the neck and chin closer to the chest
b.      Extend the neck to restore the position of the head to the top
c.       Hyper extend the neck by moving his head back as far as possible
d.      The head is moved to the side as far as possible towards each    shoulder (lateral flexion)
e.      Twisting of the neck to the right and left (rotation)

2.       Hand (shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers)
a.       Flex the elbow and forearm closer to the shoulder
b.      Extend the elbow to straighten forearm
c.       Hyper extend the elbow to bend the forearm to the back as far as possible
d.      The hand is moved laterally as far as possible and return it to its original position
e.      Rotate the shoulders to the right and to the left
f.        Flexion and extend the fingers (clenching and unclenching)
g.       Spread apart fingers and moving them together back together (adduction-abduction)
h.      In contrast with the thumb touching fingertips

3.       leg (thigh, knee, ankle and fingers)
a.       Flex the thigh and lower leg to the top
b.      Ektensikan thigh and lower leg back to its original position
c.       Hyper extend the thigh and lower leg to the back of the body as far as possible
d.      Walking is moved to the outer side as far as possible and hold back on one leg (abduction)
e.      Mobilize and crossed one foot to the other foot (adduction)
f.        Flex the knee to bend the leg, raise the heel to the back of the thigh
g.       Extend the knee to straighten legs
h.      Moving the ankle plantar flexion, also toes pointed back to the original (extension)
i.         Rotate the ankles (rotation)
j.        Flexion and extend the toes (kebawah- above)
          
K.      Stretch your toes and squeeze back together (adduction-abduction)
